It’s good to see 4k products start to enter the market, but there’s still too few content for people to use. Moving 4k movies online, isn’t only challenging technically, but also bureaucratically. Gigabyte-level connectivity dedicated for 4k TVs requires contracts and permits from local governments. High-speed data transmission is needed, unless content providers are prepared to sell 128 GB high-performance flash drive for a single movie, which isn’t cheap solution.
In fact, only some owners of 1080p TV sets regularly use compatible contents, because they are available only on a few pay-per-view on-demand channels. Therefore, to fully take advantage of 1080p technology, people need to use a Blu-ray disc.
