Gamers can be more demanding than movie enthusiasts. Pixelation may start to occur when playing typical game titles on high definition TVs larger than 60 inches. In theory, 4k TVs can ameliorate this problems by cramming significantly more pixels into the display. Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 output games at 720p and while they will looks bigger on the 4k TVs, users need to deal with interpolative pitfalls and this should be expected when using much lower resolution content on high resolution TVs.
A transition from 720p to 4k, requires about eightfold increase and there’s no upscaling technology that can sufficiently compensate for this kind of disparity. Fortunately, the upcoming Playstation 4k will change that when released in February 20.
